Academic Trajectory |

I completed both my BSc in Psychology (2001-2006) and MSc in Cognitive Sciences (2006-2008) in University of Minho. The specialization in my Bachelor’s degree was on Industrial Psychology and during my Master’s degree I started to learn more about Experimental Psychology and joined this lab. Following obtaining these degrees, I began work as a Research Assistant to Dr. Armando Machado for a little over 2 and a half years. |

Research interests |
|
Currently I am mostly interested in the ability animals have of interpreting the regularities in
their surroundings and create rules that allow them to behave adaptively in different situations. More specifically, I would like to learn
more about the rules animals use to govern their behavior and how these rules are stored in memory. During my Master’s I studied the
choose-short effect and how memories for different durations could relate to each other and how they were
forgotten during a retention interval. In another study, I looked at how learning a new rule (related with responding in
a Fixed Interval schedule) could affect a previously learned rule. In the future I would like to keep studying these issues. |
